MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

It was a wonderful experience to see the many supporters and participants of artsVest come together on April 12th to celebrate business partnerships with the Arts.

In Waterloo Region, these partnerships generated over $180,000. This is a feat that would not have been possible without the support of many leaders in business, in technology, and in the arts in our communities.

I would like to commend all the parties who were involved in bringing a new level of support for the Arts to Waterloo. These include the Council for Business and the Arts, and its funders, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ontario Ministry of Culture. Support from the Waterloo Regional Arts Council and the Prosperity Council of Waterloo Region was tremendous. And I must sincerely thank the 24 businesses in the Region, 17 of whom have just sponsored the arts for the first time, for their partnerships with 17 of the Region’s arts organizations. Thanks are also due our local Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery for helping make the celebration of artsVest such a successful evening.

From the local citizens who enjoy NUMUS concerts throughout the City of Waterloo to the many Canadians who enjoy reading the “New Quarterly” out of St. Jerome’s University, we all benefit from investments in the arts.
